SDS bits are designed for drilling into very hard brittle materials such as concrete.
It can easily drill through stone, brick and masonry. The tip is made of tungsten carbide and is exceptionally hard.
Always use SDS bits with a special SDS power drill.
The special SDS shank allows the bit to slide within the chuck when hammering without the whole heavy chuck (as with a normal drill) executing the hammer motion.
When these bits become too blunt to use it is advisable to buy a new one.
General tips:
• Frequently withdraw to remove the dust.
• Use stop-start drilling action to prevent overheating.
